Allen Briggs had been a partner in Jallen Welding from 1946 and in 1956 bought the adjacent haberdashery business to form Allen Briggs Motors Ltd.
Allen Briggs started retailing used motorbikes that year and in 1960 started to sell cars as well.
In 1965 Allen signed up to become a main agent for Fiat until 1996 when Fiat decided to reorganize their plans for the M25 area.
Allen became a Hyundai dealer in 1996 and continued to run his business until 2013 when he retired at the grand age of 89! He had worked 7 days a week since 1957 but somehow managed to find the time to race speedway during the 1950s and his stock car (number 138) during the 60s and 70s, quite an achievement.
Longevity must have be in the blood, his father had been the racing manager at Walthamstow Stadium for forty years from 1933 to 1973.
Allen Briggs Motors Ltd is now run by his family maintaining the ethos of listening to our customers and treating them how we would like to be treated ourselves.
